Finding God
By: Missionary Team
In coming before God, there is, in a sense, a place of refuge. When you come before God, there is a place for which you belong. The world is full of lies and chaos, and coming before God you can escape these things and to a place of safety, a place to escape to. It’s like when you are playing tag with your friends and there is the safe zone where you can go to take a quick break. Coming before God gives you an opportunity to recharge and prepare you to go back out into the world and face the everyday challenges and lies.
This world tries to offer us countless ways to satisfy our longings for affirmation, happiness, and community. We run to social media, partying, drinking, drugs etc. In the moment, it seems to work. We feel better. But what about when we put the phone away, we get home from the late night party, or get off that high? Loneliness, despair, isolation... the list goes on. These pleasures that the world offers are on the surface, attractive, but ultimately, they leave us empty. The reason for this is because the hole in our hearts cannot be filled by anything in this world. We were made by God who is outside of this world. Therefore, the longing He placed in our hearts can only be filled by Him. No matter how hard we search, nothing else will satisfy.
To be filled by God, we must first seek Him. To seek God is a desire put in everyone's hearts. The desire for God is also our desire for happiness. So many people look for happiness in the worldly sense, but this happiness only lasts for a time. The happiness of being filled by God is an everlasting joy and happiness that will never end, and will radiate from you to those around you.
To be filled by God, you should go to the altar and ask God to come into your heart. God wants you so much to come to Him. He desires that you seek Him out. The things of this world are fading, but God is everlasting.
“To fall in love with God is the greatest romance; to seek him the greatest adventure; to find him, the greatest human achievement.” St. Augustine of Hippo
There are no truer words that have ever been spoken by a human being. God is our ultimate end goal. God is the beginning and end of our pilgrimage. Without God, we will stumble and fall, and not have that helping hand to rise back up. You must find God in everything you do. Whether it be in school, or in the workplace. God should forever be on your mind, for God will forever be by your side. Seek Him with all your heart, find Him in everything. God is waiting for you; He is knocking on your door. Come to Him, be in His presence and there you shall find true happiness. God Bless!
